Lyschin "Liz" Smith is a licensed paralegal based in Toronto, serving clients across Ontario, with over 20 years in the legal field. She represents people in traffic and provincial offences court, at the Landlord and Tenant Board, in Small Claims Court and in some summary criminal matters. The Law Society of Ontario also authorizes her to provide a defined set of family legal services, and she offers notary and commissioning services.
She started her practice on a simple belief: everyone deserves clear, reliable legal guidance, whatever their background or circumstances.

A voice for the profession
As Chair of the Ontario Association of Black Paralegals, Liz signed the association's February 2026 submission to the Province, the Law Society and Algonquin College, arguing against suspending the college's paralegal and law clerk programs. Read the submission (PDF)
She has also presented on legal research for the Law Society of Ontario's continuing professional development program.
Training
In 2025 Liz completed Osgoode Professional Development's Certificate in Provincial Offences Court Practice. The program is directed by Justice Rick Libman, the leading Canadian authority on the Provincial Offences Act, and it sharpened her written and oral advocacy through feedback from judges, justices of the peace and senior practitioners.
